Bestival Summer of Love 2015 closes the UK Summer Music Festival Season with their best one yet!
As many of our fans know this weekend Bestival returned to the Isle of Wight for its 12th year running, and boy what a year! Bestival Summer of Love 2015 welcomed 50,000 music fans to enjoy a spectacular close to the UK's 2015 Summer Music Festival season. In Bestival tradition, king of the carnival Rob da Bank ensured that alongside a fantastic selection of music acts the Bestival bonanza boasted flamboyance, great music, fun, love, peace and happiness in an eccentric world created just for Music Lovers.
Bestival Summer of Love 2015 allowed festival revelers to experience things that only dreams are made of.
Dressing up is something festival goers to the Isle of Wight have become accustom to and this year's theme and the wide availability of Summer of Love fashion at Bestival left scenery covered in a depth of 70's peace and love hippy fashion everywhere you looked.
The mind-expanding world of Bestival Summer of Love was not only boosted by 25 awesome stages, each with their own revolutionary sound system. But also a mix of unbelievable entertainment, cabaret and carnival stylized extravaganzas from the psychedelic Ambient Woods to The Commune decorated with Summer of Love at it's heart and radiating peace and love in the Magic Meadow, to The Carnivale for complete off-the-wall carnival action and The Dressing-Up Box & Catwalk, allowing revelers to find their Summer of Love look and strut their stuff on the catwalk. You could even get married in a giant Inflatable Church of Rubber Love. The brilliance could also be found in the food selection where The Feast Collective provided a myriad of culinary delights from a wide range of Global destinations.
Bestival 2015 returned with many of its favourite features such as; The World's Largest Disco Ball, The Wishing Tree, The Ambient Forest, The Peoples Frontroom and Temple Island. However, Summer of Love also welcomed many additions that would not have been seen by Bestival regulars before. These exciting additives included The Caravanerserie, Slow Motion Arena, Magic Meadow / The Commune, The Invaders of The Future Stage, Diesel Only The Brave Stage and many more.
As you walk through Bestival’s quirky scenery, bizarre visions and completely unique decoration and styling, it’s as if the most ambiguous imaginations have been projected into real life and cast across Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight. It's awesome!
The Feast Collective saw artisan food producers, street food goods and the very coolest of chefs who took charge of culinary proceedings offering a breathtaking selection of global food including Southern state American BBQ, London's finest grilled cheese sandwiches, Korean BBQ - bringing the sizzle of Seoul to the Island, Middle Eastern and Caribbean fast-food, Eritrean inspired modern African fare and a range of freshly made juices and smoothies. The Feast Collective at Bestival was an unbelievable edition and really showed us why these guys are known for offering the finest kingdom of cuisine known to festival-land, if their back in 2016 do not miss out on this scintillating selection of yumminess!
"Bestival's spectacular entertainment and eclectic musical offering of rock, pop, indie, folk, RnB and electronic music makes it the perfect fit to be one of the UK’s biggest and most off-the-wall music festivals."
As Bestival now boasts 25 exceptional stages each of which having its own unique identity and complimented by a fantastic line-up to suit. That's really what you want to hear about, right?
Our favourite tent is Bestival's biggest, the beloved Big Top. Big Top sits at the top of the hill opposite Bestival Main Stage and really blew open the show on Thursday with epic performances from the likes of Rudimental (DJ), Gorgon City and Jamie XX.
The Big Top also welcomed top performances over the weekend from the likes of Underworld, George The Poet, Ella Eyre, Shura, Slaves, Rae Morris, Duke Dumont, Todd Terje, FKA Twigs and many more.
If you drift towards The Port from Big Top you will find Bollywood, Bollywood has been around since the inception of Bestival in 2004 and never fails to disappoint. The venue is now so popular many top DJ's request to play in the Bollywood Tent year-on-year. Bollywood's huge temple entrance-way leads into an admirable hand-stitched tent where you can experience intimate performances from some of the finest DJ's and rappers. 2015 we saw stand-out performances at Bollywood from UK Rappers Big Narstie and Stormzy; as well as tent-trembling masterclasses from Redlight, Four Tet, Melé, Lion Babe and Joy Orbison.
Bollywood is undoubtedly the hottest tent at Bestival so make sure you don't wear too many clothes and take some water.
As if all that wasn’t enough to get you all giddy to your gills, The Port was once again an awesome accumulation of firebreathers, acrobatics, crazy dancers, lasers and drama merged with one mighty fine Sound System and unbelievable line-up of DJ's. The reputation The Port is now gaining is clearly evident in how busy it has grown to become, it is now clearly a hotspot for global DJ's with a sound system and performance capability attractive to all the top DJ's from around the world.
While enjoying the wonders at The Port you can cast your eyes to the sky and watch as illuminated dancers appear, spreading their glorious wings through the lasers and marvel as jaw-dropping acrobatics are acted out right above your head to the finest tunes on the dancefloor. The stand out performances for us at The Port for Bestival 2015 were Seth Troxler, Rob da Bank, Jaguar Skills, Wookie, Hannah Wants, Annie Mac, Mark Ronson and Skrillex.
Temple Island takes all-out partying to epic proportions and saw performances from SG Lewis, Alex Adair, Shadow Child, Disciples, Fono, Philip George, Zinc, B.Traits and more. We thoroughly enjoyed a party stomping performance from World Of Rave & Music Monday on Saturday afternoon.
The stand-out performances for us at Temple Island was Alex Adair who bought the roof down with an all out Ibiza House banging set on Saturday evening! But also the return of Craig David to the stage with his new project TS5, which saw Mr David take over the decks as well as the microphone. Bringing Garage Back!
As you drift back towards the campsite along the Magic Meadow you will find yourself unable to avoid the brand new Diesel Only The Brave Stage. An impressive addition to Bestival's already multi-faceted line-up. Diesel bought along a fantastic DJ-only line-up that played good vibes across the Magic Meadow throughout the day and night. Their hot line-up included a range of well-known and upcoming DJ's many we've featured in our TTTop Picks before including SG Lewis, Jackmaster, David Zowie, Zac Samuel, Eton Messy, Blonde and more.
The mighty Bestival Main Stage stage was as usual home to the biggest performances of the weekend. Notely, Duran Duran returned to the big stage to compliment the release of some of their latest new singles. The Main Stage also showcased excellent performances from Charli XCX, Jurassic 5, Level 42, Annie Mac, The Jacksons and many others over the 4 day Festival extravaganza.
90s American Hip Hop Legends House of Pain were announced as Special Guests at Bestival Summer of Love 2015. There classic hip-hop didn't dissapoint as they got the entire site of Bestival to Jump, Jump, Jump Around!
Dance brotherhood The Chemical Brothers topped Saturday nights line-up with some of their leading electronic dance tracks over the years and some of their top latest new songs from their most recent album. Chemical Brothers delivered a master class to Bestival with a unique set that immersed the audience in audible and visual awesomeness to create the perfect dance music experience.Bestival Main Stage made way for Skepta to reunite with Boy Better Know on Sunday and perform the classic UK hit "Too Many Man" which was a treat for weekend party'ers! The Jacksons quickly followed who injected a healthy dose of nostalgia into the evening, providing disco classics and funk to get the crowd ready for the mighty Missy Elliot!
Despite the rain on Sunday, Bestival revellers got their freak on to the sounds of worlds most successful female Hip Hop artist Missy Elliott! We watched the entire festival "Work It" as they jammed to "Get Ur Freak On" while the rain poured. The generous rapper also handed out signed trainers to fans in the front row during her headline performance.
The US producer, singer, song-writer and down right innovator drew Bestival (the final major festival of the summer), to a close in true style with one of the best Bestival finales of all time.
